WATCH: The Strokes — ‘All The Time’ music video

by Eric Van Dril · 116 comments

No, The Strokes didn’t hire a director and shoot a new music video like they did twice for ‘Angles’ and many other times on the first three records.

But you know what? Music videos are lame, and this video for ‘All the Time’ is awesome.

The one bad thing, as I said on Twitter, is that I now want to see The Strokes live worse than ever. And that doesn’t seem like it’s going to happen anytime soon. But the band does seem in a good place — granted, this video is a very small sample size and was reportedly edited by Albert himself — especially when chest bumps are involved.

I think my favorite moment of the video is where Nick has the broken foot/leg, and then gets a piggy back ride to the stage. What’s yours?

So weird how it seems people are either loving or hating it. Pretty polarizing reviews on this thing.

I don’t even care what the review says, because I haven’t heard it, but I hate how this album is compared to ITI and ROF. It seems that journalists can’t view the album on its own and can’t stay objective, which is the only part that annoys me. I understand it may not be for everyone, but when they are flat out saying, “we held this up against ITI and it’s not good”, it’s not fair to CM.

The first website, Sopitas never mentioned a time on Monday for a stream, but Jumping Fish, the Greek website announced that it would be released at 23:00, which is 11pm in Greece, and that would be 6pm EST?

Perhaps these foreign sites are getting the early stream because the album is being released a few days earlier in their country? Thats just my guess.

So, Eric, if these streams are legit and you or “someone” gets a hold of all the songs, is it safe to assume that they may get posted somehow or someway for us who can’t wait?

You know, I think this video completes All the Time. When the song was released, we just didn’t feel the power behind it. This video sort of fills that gap for us and just makes it… Complete.

I’ve been coming here a while now but have never posted but thought it was time to finally join in the discussion with some fellow strokes fans 🙂 just read the under the radar review. Something I found interesting is that they pointed out 80s comedown machine as a favourite and put down chances and 50/50 where other reviews we have been given so far, one in particular came from someone who was an actual strokes fan who said chances and 50/50 were really good. I think I’d trust the opinion of a strokes fan over any 4/10 review who are stuck in the past still only praising is this it and room on fire. I mean first impressions and angles are two of my favourite records in my whole record collection and they sure didn’t get great reviews so This doesn’t make me worries about comedown machine at all 🙂

*waves* Hi Jared! I only got to know about TS when FIOE came out and thought it was the best thing ever, so it was confusing to find out that album was unfavourably received by critics. I don’t understand why all their albums have to be compared to ITI; sure, ITI was their breakthrough record into the music industry but that was so long ago, of course their sound will change. Most reviews say CM has a different sound from previous effort which means yet again, some of those who swear by ITI will again be disappointed while the rest of us just ride with the flow and see where TS new sounds take us. Also, I like OWT>ATT, so the sound progression for this album sounds exciting to me.

i heard the strokes for the first time when angles were been released…..
this album opened my eyes and ears for the only band that i felt obssesed with and i couldnt help myself of digging all of their songs….and thats why i can´t see a bad albumm in angles like most of people insist to do!!!!

Thanks for the welcome H! Well I actually became a strokes fan just by a bit of luck. In 2002 A friend gave me a cd she wanted a copy of so I burned it for her. Before returning it I decided to have a listen to this cd called “is this it” what I heard was something completely unique and different to anything I had heard ever before, so I had to burn myself a copy. It’s at that point I started listening to good music for the first time. My obsession with the strokes definitely started though when I took a trip into the city in 2006 and found a copy of first impressions of earth deluxe edition for $10. On the way home I listened all the way through twice and fell in love. Also I have to say the artwork in first impressions of earth with each page having different artwork for each song has gone one of my favourite lyric booklets of all time. Anyone else find it amazing?
