The Strokes are shooting the video for Angles‘ second single tonight.

The following photos were sent by Nikolai Fraiture from the set of the shoot for “Taken For a Fool.”

And his dressing room…

4 Rick June 7, 2011 at 10:34 pm

So Warren, like everyone else, gave up on the strokes?

5 Mrowr June 7, 2011 at 11:36 pm

@Dillon YEAH! > . < no more shades please.

@Rick By 'everyone else' you mean YOU.

its funny how things work. Warren fu worked on star wars and then the strokes, Briet worked on 3D editing for the ring, then end up working for the strokes as well. who could plan that.

He also directed Albert’s video “GfC” :

Love in Albert’s video how the instruments images’ successions represent the song’s beat and notes. Hope they will reproduce it in the new one.
Which also reminds me of Daft Punk’ s video “Around the world” dancing beat time.

I want to confess that Im tired of listening to Taken for a fool. it’s a good song, I know, but it kinda burned out quickly. I’m looking foraward to watch the video though…

I think the video is going to breathe a new life, if you will into this song. Gratisfaction is on my repeat run list now

10 Atd June 8, 2011 at 6:45 am

i agree with lifesucksbigtime….but the ring?? awesome movie so i think this will be cool

11 Jamiroquiche June 8, 2011 at 7:54 am

pretty sure they chose their director, rick.

I think they should have adopted “The Ring” premise for the “Under Cover of Darkness” video. Have the band watching the “Last Nite” video on TV and when they get to the “Everybody’s signing the same song for ten years” part, have the 2001 Julian craw out of the TV and impale the 2011 Julian by spearing him with his mic stand like a javelin.

13 neversay June 8, 2011 at 10:10 am

@Brian LoL So funny

14 Mykel June 8, 2011 at 12:08 pm

@Rick- Shut the fuck up dude, Warren Fu only directed like 2 music vidoes for The Strokes. You dont know what your talking about.

15 jules June 8, 2011 at 1:11 pm

@Brian – i fucken love you’re idea

16 Olivia June 8, 2011 at 2:55 pm

@ Brian-YES!!! hahah! that sounds awsome! you’ve made my day! =)

17 Mrowr June 8, 2011 at 10:32 pm

@Brian – pwahahah, that would be wicked!

18 lisa June 9, 2011 at 1:57 am

maybe it would be more amusing if 2011 Julian impaled 2001 Julian and the other 2001 Strokes

I disagree with lifesucksbigtime AND Atd. Taken For A Fool is a great track and sounds every bit as good as it did the first time I heard it, if not better! Great choice for a single. Now, has anyone heard of this being released on vinyl with a b-side?!?

20 KEVIN June 9, 2011 at 4:41 am

Duh, nevermind. From Ryan: “A 7″ vinyl single is coming shortly, details on the b-side and release date are still being finalized but we’ll be sure to keep you guys posted.”

21 Dillon June 9, 2011 at 5:40 am

i hope the b side isnt another angles track but it probably will be. Probably games or something. They gotta have songs in the vault that would be a good b-side!

22 Brian Wallace June 9, 2011 at 11:10 am

Yes. That makes more sense. The 2001 Julian craws out of the TV and 2011 Julian conquers him and puts an end to having to sign “Last Nite” at every concert for the rest of his life by killing him with the mic stand. Much better plot.

23 alx. June 9, 2011 at 2:23 pm

If they release another track off angles as a B-side they’re fuckin morrons.
Probably Call Me Back, right?
I hope they do have a new track, or at least a demo or a cover. Anything.
Best scenario: Radio Minor Madness (Games demo with guitars instead of sythns)

24 Brian Wallace June 9, 2011 at 2:36 pm

For their handful of B-sides, the Strokes have a habit of releasing either live tracks or collaborations (Regina Spektor, Eddie Vedder). Maybe they’ll kill two birds will one stone and have the live Madison Square Garden version of “Taken For a Fool” with Elvis Costello be the B-side.

Thank you,

Brian Wallace

hey guys,

I was checking the new strokes website and on the video section there’s no Heart in a Cage video and on the strokes youtube channel neither… why’s that? It seems like they hate that video…

26 weston from teh band June 10, 2011 at 4:37 pm

@Brian Wallace In theory your idea is really good. But you’ve forgotten that Julian can’t sing very well live anymore 🙁

27 Allain June 11, 2011 at 9:06 am

So excited! xD

28 woon June 11, 2011 at 7:07 pm

the UCoD video had a cheeky swipe at Last Nite anyway.

looking fwd to seeing this video, hoping for something vibrant

as for bsides

games demo or
taken for a fool with elvis costello
seem the likely choices

tho theres always
salty salute (gbv cover)
not my place in the 9 to 5 world (ramones cover)
walk on the wildside (lou reed cover)

they dont really like to use songs as b-sides
generally we get 1 for each album

when it started
modern girls

the rest bing covers/live tracks/demos
