Please tell me that its the sound of the video being weird and not Nikolai playing the wrong bassline on Last Nite. Say it ain’t so. “Oh baby I don’t care no more” never rang so true….it’s heartbreaking to see them in this state.

Maybe it’s just the sound. Please be the sound.

4 neversay June 6, 2011 at 5:38 pm

It’s just the sound

Julian sounds a whoooole lot better here. Well compared to the wiener roast at least…

Is it just me or are these videos really really laggy? The other videos on this site are fine… I’m glad that they are doing some West coast performances…. although they really do need their own concert, with a backdrop. Not just a black tarp, they are better than that. That’s just my opinion :/

I was at the show last night. They sounded amazing. the mixing was perfect. Taken for a fool doesnt and UCOD don’t always sound great when watching them online, even if your computer is hooked up to a good sounding system. However live they sound SOOO good.
I have see the strokes 8 times in the last 8 years and this was my first time hearing the new material. I was amazed at how good they sounded.
I was pissed that they only played 10 songs and left 15 minutes early. I hate hearing those 3 intro cords for Take it or Leave it because i always know its their last song.

Take it or Leave it*

@neversay – You’re right, it’s the sound. I just listened again very closely and you can barely hear but he’s playing the right notes. There just isn’t much bass guitar on that video, I think it was one of the guitar parts I was hearing. I feel bad that I doubted Nikolai!

I like how Fab counts off the Hard to Explain break now.

Yeah! this is better than the Weiner gig. Julian probably has a sore throat that’s all.

Btw, am I the only one squeeeeing at Julian pawing Albert’s face during Last Nite? Haha :p

15 MP June 6, 2011 at 10:41 pm

why the same damn setlist every time? this has been their trend ever since the reunion gigs circa ’10 with the exception of a few new songs peppered in… its killing the sacredness of every song for me with these shitty renditions past their prime. they need to play new songs with a fresh intensity that should always come with supporting a new album. and it wouldn’t hurt to dust off some rare tunes and/or mix it up with some of the other new songs that have seemingly become the redheaded step-children of angles. the strokes will always be my favorite band, but i hate how predictable they’ve become.

gutted im seeing them at leeds insted of reading cos im expecting the leeds set to be about 20-30 minutes shorter
if pulp werent big enough to be abov them in 2002 how are they big enough now?

its a bit disaapointing that considering they had 2 shows both 30 minutes long that they didnt spread tracks out give us a couple of shows

not loving this greatest hits style show, so many great songs being neglected

Taken For A Fool:
(I think it’s great! At least the mike cord didn’t tangle up like in Jools Holland hehe)

(Julian: Everybody’s been singing the same songs for TWENTY years~~~)

You’re So Right:

Better audio of Last Nite:

Another Angle of Jules pawing Albert’s face (Last Nite) :p

I feel like above all the other vids, “Last Night” still seems to completely capture this bands swag and attitude. Watching that video, and Julian interacting with his band members (Albert specifically) reminded me that this band isn’t out for the count. They still have that special quality that no contemporary band has.

I was there on Sunday and I loved it. Though I must say it was a bit frustrating seeing them play second fiddle to such a shitty band as Lincoln Park, and I think it kind of showed in the performance. really lame crowd, especially compared to when I saw them at Outside Lands which was just ridiculous. It was kind of like your first time, awkward, awesome, and not long enough.

20 neversay June 7, 2011 at 4:21 pm

@Beau I don’t get why everybody says Lincoln Park is such a bad band. I’m not a fan.. and never really liked them.. but don’t find them terrible either.
Is it the band’s image? the singer’s voice? empty lyrics? what is it?

21 Marcos June 7, 2011 at 7:03 pm

I was there Sunday and I’ve got to say I didnt enjoy them as much as I thought i was going to a big factor I thinkis bc I was so damm far and that killed and second the crowd was lame.
