Hey guys, anyone want to confirm this? I’m leaning towards fake but they did a great job of making it sound like the strokes.

3 squirrel April 16, 2014 at 2:08 pm

It’s fake.

The news songs are really good! Ego, Arabic, and the new one they played here are superb. And the one I didn’t like much before, which is sort of a hardcore sound, sounds a lot better in this performance. Not sure if it was tweaked or what, but I liked it.

I love 2 Chords. It’s the one starting around 14:55. Can’t stop listening…

6 @rocketiakman April 16, 2014 at 4:28 pm

it has to be a fake right? even if so, it sounds great. who is it?

7 Kinger April 16, 2014 at 6:23 pm

Sounds good! But I’m pretty sure it’s not real. Too good to be true.

Did anyone see this?

This really is the one Strokes album I never tire of listening too. It is really perfect.

“Some of you are leaving. That’s okay. This music is meant to alienate all the right people, so go do ya thing.” (2:07 and on is fucking rad)

What did they throw at him? he deflected it and seemed really surprised. A cd? A water bottle? It was shiny.

11 PT April 16, 2014 at 9:37 pm

I was there. It was a CD. He came back to pick it up and brought it with him as he left the stage.

That’s very cool of Julian-kuz that’s exactly what TS did while Guided by Voices were playing. They threw a cassette tape onto the stage. Bob said they all listened to it while they drove to their next gig and were floored.
And we all know that TS ended up opening for GbV. 🙂

@Next D
Thanks for posting that! “The lyrics of every song are magical, they’re all genius. Admire them.”
I agree. And I also listen to FIOE the most out of all TS albums.
Maybe it’s because the songs themselves are so different from each other- all 14 are so unique imo.
Maybe because Julian shared so much of himself in the lyrics -altho some lyrics are still very Julianishly cryptic- others are very straight forward staring you in the face.
Such a variety of vocals- some songs are so passionate and some are just fun.
And then there’s of course the amazing music – bass, drums, guitar riffs, solos. It’s all so good.

LillySu found this great up close video of Phantom of Liberty (Arabic Jam) from Coachella-
I LOVE this song-it might be my favorite Voidz song and I think this performance is freaking AWESOME.

those guitars from 5:04 till the end are just mesmerizing imo. Just keeps going round inside my head all day lol.
and Julian’s vocals are perfect.
REALLY WANT this album!

great vid Annie/Lily Su – I also REALLY WANT this album!

15 first impressions of you April 17, 2014 at 12:38 pm

yeah, very powerful! Speaking of which I just found this version of Where Eagles Don’t Fly.. Oh my God! The best performance yet of it may be.. so much power…

16 first impressions of you April 17, 2014 at 12:39 pm
forgot to post it sorry lmao

17 Annie 1251 April 17, 2014 at 3:03 pm

@first impressions
Isn’t it incredible what a few sound checks and a little practice can produce? what a concept LOL

LOVE seeing Julian so INTO this – Crazy Eyes and everything haha!

18 quepasta April 17, 2014 at 3:15 pm

Does anyone understand the meaning of the arabic he sings at the beginning of Phantom of Liberty? So awesome 😀

19 first impressions of you April 17, 2014 at 4:18 pm

Oh yeah!! It is awesome the way he gets involved 100 % the energy he puts into the singing.. very few singers are out there doing stuff like this.. and to be honest i haven’t seen performers that put half the energy he does.

20 Who am I? April 17, 2014 at 6:51 pm

OH my god!! That PERFORMANCE was so AWESOME! And that VOICE! It’s incredible! Have you ever HEARD anything like IT?!

21 Annie 1251 April 17, 2014 at 6:59 pm

yeah actually we have. from any of the Strokes performances up to and including 2006.
and that Fallon RoB btw.
Glad Julian’s got his groove back 🙂

22 PT April 17, 2014 at 11:56 pm

@ Annie 1251

I wonder if he changed the name of the Arabic jam, at the LA show it was called ‘2 Chord’ on the setlist.

23 PT April 18, 2014 at 12:09 am

Never mind the Arabic jam is ‘Dare I Care’

24 LillySu April 18, 2014 at 7:38 am

2 Cords is another new one. And it’s fantastic.

25 Kathy April 18, 2014 at 9:00 pm

It’s good to hear that their live performances are improving each time! The band had great energy while on stage in South America, but definitely the sound was pretty bad during most of their setlist, which was a shame because we didn’t get to hear Julian’s new songs clearly. Hopefully they will come back someday!

26 Jared April 19, 2014 at 3:25 pm

Was anyone else hoping that record store day was the day julian would surprise us with the album or even just a song?

27 Annie 1251 April 19, 2014 at 7:30 pm

Posted this on both threads – Voidz set list from tonight:

Hello Guys. I’ve been on this site for many years, but over the last year I haven’t engaged much in the discussions because they basically always end in the same arguments lol… Anyways, as a somebody who considers themselves a person whose favorite band has been TS for over a decade, and wanted to ask what you guys think of my Project. It’s important to me to know what fellow TS fans think. I place bass in this band, my first band, we’ve been playing together since January of this year and have been make a lot of progress for a new band. Here’s a cool vid. Your feedback is appreciated!!
