No Tap Out??:/ Even though it was on the set list?

2 hi August 21, 2014 at 8:31 am

what a great setlist. love when they play fioe material

3 Mateja August 21, 2014 at 8:35 am

@Thomas

They’ll probably play it on the the festival they’re playing this weekend.

Anyone know if there’s a live stream for that fest?

4 LillySu August 21, 2014 at 8:54 am

Great setlist. ROF dominates and a lot of FIOE!

5 Matt August 21, 2014 at 9:26 am

I really do hope they play Tap Out. I was hoping they’d play songs we haven’t heard live, so I was pretty excited to see Tap Out on the setlist.

6 Mikey August 21, 2014 at 9:37 am

They have 95 minutes at FYF. They could easily add way more songs to their set with that amount of time, but knowing them they just won’t use the full slot.

Capital theatre didn’t get a poster but the cosmopolitan did. Boo. That poster is bad ass btw.

They had 90 minutes at Gov Ball and played for around 75 including an encore break. Pretty short, but they’re still doing 17-18 songs which is pretty standard. No Tap Out is such a tease, but I imagine they’d replace it or Happy Ending with Last Nite? There’s no way they play to thousands of people and not play their biggest song.

Really happy to see FIOE more prominently represented, though Killing Lies would not be my first or second choice (Red Light!!).

10 johnr August 21, 2014 at 11:47 am

@Arthur – hopefully just the UK release date.

11 Arthur Dubois August 21, 2014 at 12:00 pm

@johnr I think we’ll all get to hear it or download it on september 13th and cult will release a physical version later in october. I just wish jules would share crispy details with us now

12 LillySu August 21, 2014 at 1:47 pm

@Arthur Dubois
You mean September 23rd for the download.

Maybe October 13th is just for CDs.

13 oleg August 21, 2014 at 1:57 pm

that is so great they played killing lies

14 Dillon August 21, 2014 at 5:28 pm

Killing lies is one of my all time favorite strokes songs ❤️
Hope they play tap out at fyf though

Look how skinny Julian is. Probably been running laps so he can stay in shape, Running laps in the exact same place. Running laps in his relationship, Running away from the shadows themselves.

lol

I saw them play most of their Angles songs for the first time ever at SXSW in 2011, so that was cool. I also saw them on their FIOE tour, which was the first time I saw them, and it was just too amazing. For “Ask Me Anything” All the lights on stage went off, then when they came on Nick was sitting down Indian style, with a keyboard in his lap. Then with both index fingers began to play the song, and a light came on Julian, and the song went on like that. It was totally amazing! I saw them at ACL(And at an ACL aftershow), but that was before Angles, and they played a lot of ROF. 20 girls (prob some guys too) passed out in the first 2 minutes of the show (partly from excitement, but mostly from suffocation) during NYC Cops…including the girl I was with *face palm*

Seriously though. So excited about FYF!! I this little vaca is one of the craziest things I’ve ever done. lol

Oh for the love of christ, please play Tap Out at FYF.

18 Matt August 21, 2014 at 10:28 pm

A bit unrelated, but I thought this bit was funny from the Lollapalooza vid posted the other day:

Next single for sure.

Someday:

They all sounded really good. Wish they would do a real tour. Been too long since I saw them at ACL (4 years)

22 Matt August 22, 2014 at 11:05 am

Hah. Loved when he sung Nick’s little intermission.

23 ricardo August 22, 2014 at 12:33 pm

@Matt YES! Can you remember on which concert nick played the exact same licks? I used to listen to it a lot, but I lost a lot of songs, and forgot about it in the end

24 johnr August 22, 2014 at 1:10 pm

@ricardo, @ Matt, What are you guys referring to?

25 johnr August 22, 2014 at 1:14 pm

oh nevermind …. that lolla link. That is great

26 Star Lord August 22, 2014 at 1:52 pm

Its funny, this leak has grew on me so much, everytime i play along to someday i just cant help but play this interlude riff.

27 jp August 22, 2014 at 3:07 pm

@Mike B

Holy shit, yeah that was maybe the best sounded reptilia since 2010. Doing voidz shows has really given julian his growl back in top form.

28 Dumont August 22, 2014 at 4:13 pm

Happy birthday, Jules!

29 Matt August 22, 2014 at 5:30 pm

@ricardo and @johnr

Nick played that little lick during Reading 2011 and MSG 2011.

30 Dumont August 22, 2014 at 5:50 pm

Oh, I’m from germy and i realize now that it’s not yet the 23th for you guys from ‘murica.. so i was a little too soon.. i just wanted to be the first! 😉 Oh, well…

31 ricardo August 22, 2014 at 6:09 pm

@matt
yeah! thanks, dude! it’s from the reading fest. I remember of it.

I remember also, in 2005, on tim festival in rio de janeiro-BR, nick also did some cool stuff during the 2 intro

32 Jonny B August 22, 2014 at 8:00 pm

@Katie

Are you an Austinite? If so…we really get spoiled with concerts! lol…but if you were, you probably would have seen them in 2011!

Listen to this shit. I flew to San Diego to see my Uncle, from Austin, and am going to LA tmrw morning…that was the plan anyway.

I left my damn VIP FYF wristband!!!!…I got it overnighted, but it could come as late as 2, and it’s 3 hours away, and I’d have to go to my hotel first to put my luggage away……..so, there’s a chance I’ll miss most of the acts on Saturday!!!…(The tic could come anywhere from 9-2)…so hopefully it will be earlier, and I’ll be able to make it by 5 to catch Albert……Then Julian, Interpol, and Phoenix. I’ll def make it by Interpol…But shit, I don’t want to miss Jules, for sure!

Keep me in your prayers plz.

33 suuup August 22, 2014 at 9:15 pm

Oh dude hell yes! I fucking love that lick thing nick played! after i heard that i messed with it so much playing along to someday

Glad to see Nick is using the Riviera again. Don’t get me wrong, the Gibson is an amazing guitar, no questions asked, but the Riviera just fits so much better with Strokes songs. He even picked up the Les Paul junior in some parts. Glad to see he’s diverting back to older traditions.

36 Omar Pontis August 23, 2014 at 10:01 am

why didn’t they play Tap Out ? fab talks to julian ath the end of Heart In A Cage.what did i just said? “sorry jules, but it’s too difficult for me. i’m shitting my paints”

37 ITAO August 23, 2014 at 10:24 am

And that was the best performance of You Only Live Once I’ve seen in a LOOOOOONNNNGGG time. Like wow. Jules was really into it. He got his roar probably from touring wih The Voidz. Good for him.

38 Conrad August 23, 2014 at 10:26 am

that was intense

39 Joseph A August 23, 2014 at 10:51 am

Did anyone download the Voidz soundboard audio before it was taken down? I’m trying to convincey friend to go to the concert with me. He says he’s not into what he’s heard. I don’t see how he couldn’t be

40 Mike B August 23, 2014 at 10:54 am

Who ever yelled “Ize of the World” after every song is a horrible person.
