The Strokes have signed a publishing deal with BMG

BMG announced today that The Strokes have signed a publishing deal for North America with BMG Chrysalis US. The press release can be found here.

I’m not entirely sure what BMG does for bands, but this news implies the Strokes will be making music in the future. Also, people are saying that this means BMG is the Strokes’ new record label. That doesn’t seem to be the case, as it appears that BMG is only handling the band’s publishing and music rights.

The Strokes are not currently on a record label, as far as I know.
