Listen: A Low-Quality Phone Recording Of The Strokes’ ‘You’re So Right’

Update: Listen to the song here. Updated

The Strokes is not meant to be heard this way. Their music is intricate and it deserves better.

Of course, after this morning’s bullshit with RXP failing to deliver You’re So Right to the masses, a radio rip will have to do. If you missed it, the station didn’t play You’re So Right — the b-side on Under Cover of Darkness – on the radio stream of their broadcast. So a cell phone radio rip is all we have until the song is released on March 1 (or RCA takes down the video).

Thank you to Brandon for the recording, which is about as good as you can hope for when you’re recording on a cell phone. The strength of the song still stands out, despite the method of extraction. There’s an unforgettable solo (that has to be Nick, right?) in the middle of the song and a robotic chorus which sound similar to River of Brakelights’ “Getting the hang of it…”

Before we get to the song, you can buy the “Under Cover of Darkness” single . Or you can hear it on Tuesday.
