All right, so The Strokes have wrapped their set. What did you think? Favorite song? What do you wish they would have played? Favorite moment from the show? Is an hour-long set too short?

And, for those in attendance, please tell us all about the show.

Pics from the gig.

Videos can be found on the TSN Facebook page.

Sweetlife attendee here, just wanted to assure you all that any audio/mixing problems experienced during the webstream were not present in the live EQ at all. The band sounded god damn terrific. I’ll be curious to hear Anthony’s rip.

@Will – Yeah, Jules was in top form. Handled all the really challenging Angles stuff really well, especially Games. I just stood still and awe during the big climactic last verse, waiting to see if he’d hit those high notes, and was not disappointed. Same with the last chorus of Gratisfaction.

I think he and the band were performing particularly well because they were at ease and enjoying themselves. Jules really couldn’t stop gushing about what a great response the audience was giving. Seemed totally sincere when he called us the best crowd in… “shit… a long time” or something to that effect.

hello. anyone at the show remember someone screaming about making his shirt, and then he pulled down his glasses and looked into the audience?

WELL THAT WAS TO ME!!! AND I AM THE HAPPIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD BECAUSE OF IT

This show seems really sloppy and half-assed. I’m sure it was different if you were there in person. There’s no denying though, there is some super out of tune singing here (as if Jules can’t hear himself?) and some super sloppy guitar playing. These guys can do better than this. Much better. I’m so glad I saw them so many times during Is This It/Room On Fire days when they were playing small clubs/theaters and blowing the roof off every time. I realize they’re trying more challenging stuff these days and I give ‘em credit for that. There’s no excuse for the sloppiness, though.

I love how they substituted “James” for “Games.” I also like that they brought “Automatic Stop” back into their set. But I wanna hear some more new stuff live: like “Machu Pichu” and “Two Kinds of Happiness.” Maybe they played these songs at another live gig (?)

The Strokes set was short, but worth the drive. But it can’t even compare to how amazing the MSG show was! I posted up a few photos, check them out ;]

The show was FUCKING AWESOME. I’m biased because it was my first time seeing the Strokes, but I was second row, pressed up against the guys against the barrier aha. Anyway, I started kind of in front of Albert, but to my advantage jumped and got pushed and shoved until I was centered with Julian directly for most of the set. If you see in one of the videos a girl throw a shirt on stage and then Julian looks at it again later and speaks to her, she was directly next to me (oh hey, Lilly! Just saw your post. Cool). Anyway, I screamed Automatic Stop like ten times and my friend said Julian say “maybe” in response, which is sort of possible because I did scream advantageously, when it was quiet, but it’s obvious now it was just a part of the setlist already haha. Either way I was fucking glad. I couldn’t really notice the quality of the sound while caught up in the crazy hype (which was a total blast), but listening/watching back it does seem like Julian was a bit off. It wasn’t the best show ever but hell I saw the fucking Strokes. Favorites were I Can’t Win and Under Control (despite the total lyric fuck ups over and over) and of course the obvious headbangers like Hard to Explain and NYCC and Reptilia and TIOLI. I was disappointed though not entirely surprised by the lack of FIOE, and since I didn’t really like Angles I would have been more than happy had they just stuck to the first three albums but obviously that is an impossible request haha. Any Strokes set is too short for me, too, when they can’t play each and every song plus demos, etc. So I can’t really remark about length because I wouldn’t have been satisfied no matter what haha I wanted it to go on all night. I was absolutely exhausted having arrived at 10 am, was in the pit from noon until what, 10, 10:30 pm? no food, hardly any water because with the pressure of the crowd I couldn’t manage to get my bag off of my back haha. Fucking draining, I’m still dehydrated, but so totally worth it (even given the misery that was lupe and his soapbox speech). Okay I’ve written way way way too much and I’m sorry. To sum it up I basically have to see the Strokes any time possible in the future. It didn’t appease a need, but only increased my yearning for the future haha.
