Watch: The Strokes play Estereo Picnic Festival 2017

by Eric Van Dril · 15 comments

The Strokes played Estereo Picnic Festival on Friday, March 24. It was the band’s first concert of 2017.

The festival appearance wasn’t streamed officially, but a YouTube user compiled several of the Periscope streams. The video quality is just OK, but the audio is solid. Enjoy.

I’m glad they decided to play something new. Good stuff.

Giving cred to the girl that made this Periscope compilation –
It’s Maria
@onewaytriggers
The same girl that has downloaded all the Culture Void shows for us.

Hoping they play 80’s CM again on a clear stream for the next shows –
Sounded amazing

Guys, can anyone name the song that was played during their entrance ? I did a quick research and it is probably the Doors song called ‘awake’. Unfortunately, it sounds way different than the song from the footage 🙁

Not a big fan of that setlist. Nos just because is short, but idk, too generic.

The crowd didn’t help neither. I hope is not the same atmosphere on the other shows, everything looked dead in those periscopes.

@Konrad

The first words are sampled from Jim Morrison I guess, not sure about the rest of the song..

If you wanna watch streaming of Lolla Brazil show, here is the link (you must use HOLA and set it to Brazil)

The Strokes will start at 8:30 in Sao Paulo time (it’s less than 2 hours from now)

@konrad

The Doors part is from Celebration of the Lizard King pt 1

But the main horns n beat section is Public Enemy (sampling Shirley Bassey)

Nothing to do with the concert, but I really liked this about Comedown Machine 4th anniversary (?)

“…the record deal that for some unfathomable reason still makes people piss themselves in anger and jealousy…” 😀

“…there is a void in the world that only they can fill…” Ain’t that the truth.

Nice article.

It was a well-written tribute and I can’t believe it’s already been 4 years since CM was released.

Wow their setlists are getting more and more sad…
9 songs from Is This It, that’s just insane. They played less from ITI in 2006 when I saw them live, and they only had three albums then. But yeah, that was back when they still gave a shit I suppose…

I just saw the last song of Lolla Brazil. Great energy! Both band and crowd seemed amazing.

It was a HD stream in facebook, so it’s probably going to be uploaded

Some nice moments at Lollapalooza. I like what they did with “80s Comedown Machine”—a little innovation there. And Julian does a mean Barry Gibb imitation! Who knew?

“… doing blow and banging hookers…” 😀
