by Eric Van Dril · 5 comments

The Strokes wrapped up their four-show run in South America on Sunday, April 2, with a headlining gig at Lollapalooza Chile. The set started with technical problems, but the band overcame them and delivered.

Check it out.

The setlist was the same as Saturday night’s show in Argentina.

I was there pretty fuckin close to the front. It was amazing finally getting to see them live after a 14 year wait. It was the most overstimulating concert of the weekend and it was hard to take it all in. I loved that the stage was dark and you could really only make out their silhouettes. It was weird that they started like 25 minutes late and the problem they had with the audio at the beginning was frustrating because it meant that we had to leave when they had two songs left because my friends all worked this morning and I had to catch a flight to the north of Chile. So we felt like every emotion during their set. Honestly, I’ve never heard a band sound so tight and clean yet play with so little effort. The dynamic highs and swells of the show were way bigger than the highs achieved by Metallica, xx, and Two Door Cinema Club which is amazing considering they were not as “heartfelt” or outwardly “emotional” on stage as those other bands. It was awesome.
