UPDATE: I just got time to read the entire review, and it’s written for Strokes fans. Honestly, I was a little down about this new record because of the sub-par reviews, the media blackout and what seems to be another two or three years without The Strokes doing a proper tour. But this was re-energizing, so check it out. UPDATED

I’m strapped for time, so this won’t be too long: here’s a fantastic review of ‘Comedown Machine’ by Time Out Chicago.

Check it out. It’s written by a Strokes fan.

(Also, I’m not going to post anymore reviews on this site. Reading so much about the 10 songs on Angles kind of ruined the experience for me, so I’m going to try to avoid that. I will try to post links to the reviews on Facebook.com/TheStrokesNews and @thestrokesnews. I’m sure many of this site’s readers will also post links to those reviews — probably before me, in fact — in the comments section of the top post on this site.)

@ Tommy

I see more that RCA forces the band to do things they didn’t want to, so they find a compromise by putting a big RCA on the label and letting the band not doing any promotion

That makes no sence, RCA are gettinsg nothing by putting a giant RCA on their album cover. albert has already stressed reapeatedly that that’s what the band wanted. Considering they never tour or promore properly, RCA pretty much lets them do what they want anyways.

I recently asked the lady that took that picture of her owning Comedown Machine from Instagram and she actually replied!

However, it’s a no go…

“sorry dude you seem nice but I work at Sony Music and don’t really feel like getting fired right now!”

114 R Guy March 14, 2013 at 2:38 pm

*don’t

115 Damn March 14, 2013 at 2:41 pm

Guessing rolling stone.

Well, fuck rolling stone that magazine is garbage and has been for the last ten years. I hope this album is so polarizing that people think its horrible because they don’t understand it. Just like Julian’s album, make it fucking weird, that’s what I want. Anyways that review pissed me off.

They gave Merriweather Post Pavilion 3 and a half stars. Honestly they’re a magazine for famous classic rock acts, I wouldn’t put any stock into the interview.
