A number of high-caliber artists have contributed rare and unreleased songs to Kevin Moyer’s “Live From Nowhere Near You Vol. II.”
The Strokes are one of those artists.
From this page, I’m not entirely sure what The Strokes’ contribution will be. But it would make sense to see a song like Clear Skies, or possibly a cover, land on this record. Or we might luck out and hear something completely new, which I would doubt considering how stingy The Strokes are in situations like this.
Anyway, the lineup for this project is phenomenal, as you can see here. I mean, where else can you hear Wilco, Elliott Smith and Greg Oden on the same record?
Daniel Johnston • Modest Mouse • Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam • Stone Gossard and Mike McCready of Pearl Jam • Tango Alpha Tango • The Black Ryder • The Strokes • James Mercer of The Shins • Wilco • Kevin and Anita Robinson of Viva Voce • Corin Tucker of Sleater-Kinney • Chris Funk and John Moen of The Decemberists • Elliott Smith • The Helio Sequence • The Upsidedown • The Dandy Warhols • Spoon • Ryan Adams • The Presidents of the United States of America • Bright Eyes • Dan Reed • Danny Seim of Menomena • Dave Allen of Gang of Four • Evan Railton of Swords • Greg Oden of The Portland Trailblazers • Imani Coppola • The Ettes • Joe Purdy • John Doe of X • Joshua Homme of Queens of the Stone Age and Them Crooked Vultures • Black Rebel Motorcycle Club • The Robots • Keith Schreiner of Dahlia • Logan Lynn • Mic Crenshaw of Hungry Mob • Mike Watt of The Minutemen • Nathan Jr of Duover • Neil Gust of No. 2 and Heatmiser • Pete Droge • Pete Miser of the Five Fingers of Funk • Third Eye Blind • Seth Lorinczi of the Golden Bears • Shawn Smith of Brad and Satchel • Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree • Stic.man of Dead Prez (ed. note: LISTEN TO DEAD PREZ. THEY’RE INCREDIBLE.) • Thomas Lauderdale of Pink Martini • …AND MANY MORE

They just announced the b-side! Its Taken For A Fool live with Elvis Costello.
^That’s almost as stupid as putting Mercy, Mercy Me on the comp. I know a b-side is supposed to be filler, but a live version of the A-side?? That is really, really weak.
THEY ARE PLAYING MACHU PICCHU TONIGHT!
@mateja Where did you hear that?
Hey – regarding M3 The Ecology on the comp:
1. I picked the song.
2. The album concept is collaboration, which this song is.
3. It was NEW at the time, it just took me this long to finish the album.
4. Most people (non hardcore fans) have never heard it, since it was a limited B Side.
6. It’s for charity.
So cut the band some slack…?
@Bernardo R.
This is what Nikolai just tweeted, “There may be a Peruvian surprise tonight! Just sayin’”
That will be beyond amazing then! I wonder how they’ll do the vocal layering maybe Albert or Nick will sing part if it?
Just seen The Strokes live! They were amazing! They played Machu Picchu (first time live, right?), Trying your luck, What Ever Happened?, under control, Life is simple in the moonlight, and the usual…
@Amanda They played Machu Picchu finally? How was it?
Just came home from the concert. Machu Picchu was amazing live! Julian almost forgot the “wearing a jacket made of meat”-line, but saved it in the last secound hehe.
After the song, he excaused himself by informing us he had only read up on the lyrics 15 minutes before going up on stage :p

sorry its a horrible recording but hopefully someone will upload a better version from the stream. was there a stream in Sweden?
I never thought I’d see the day. Maybe Two Kinds of Happiness isn’t out of the question.
Machu Picchu seems to be a fan favorite. The crowd reaction when Julian announced the song says it all. They should release it as a single.
