Angles has been out for all of two days, but The Strokes are ready to begin working on a fifth record. This week, the band got together and decided to return to the studio in April to begin work on the follow-up to Angles.

In an interview with XFM’s Steve Harris, bassist Nikolai Fraiture discussed myriad topics, including one reason why The Strokes have decided not to roll out an elaborate tour for Angles.

Thanks to Annie for the link and ShesFixing for ripping the audio. Zane is superior, by the way.

@wolfman Woah. You convinced me.
It sounds pretty good good to me to have those 3 as singles. Definitely the best tracks on the album.
I hope we get b-sides…

I thought singles are usually released before albums are? So Ucod would have been the only single? I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong

@AC

No….usually one single is released before the album….then 2 more.

Oh ok…but why is it like that? Why would they release songs that have already been heard? Or would they release b-sides? so confused…

@AC So that more people hear it. New fans = More money = More albums

Nowadays a single is the songs that are chosen from an album, though to be the most likely to appeal to all publics, and that will be more commercial, have more radio plays, a video clip, everything to promote the sells of the actual LP.
Some bands still put out a physical copy like a 7″ vinyl to promote it and they also include b-sides cause it’s how it was back in the days, where everybody bought singles and had amazing b-sides, different times. I think is cool they still do things like that.

Hey whatever happened to Radio Minor Madness? I never really knew…

@Eric Van Dril:
Even if there are no big tour plans, do you think there’s still hope for a Chicago concert this summer?
