OK, so here’s the skinny: Albert Hammond Sr. is on Twitter and, unlike the three members of The Strokes who are on the social network, he directly answers questions about The Strokes’ fifth record.
Today, AHS responded to a fan asking him when The Strokes are going to come to Argentina.
AHS wrote: “ahora mismo estan ocupados grabando su quinto CD en New York besos oxoxoxoxoxo(*-* )” Thanks to reader shadey, this means “(The Strokes) are now busy recording their fifth CD in New York kisses oxoxoxoxoxo (* – *)”
I hope he’s right, but if I had to bet, I’d say he means writing the fifth record, not recording. I don’t think The Strokes want to jump into the studio for another drawn out process after they had to record Angles twice. Moreover, Julian just went to Disney World (by himself, I hope) and Fab is reportedly living in Paris.
What I advise is for people to ask Julian, Albert, Ryan and Niko if this is true on Twitter. They don’t often respond, but maybe we’ll get lucky.

@Tommy Pickles, I totally agree with you. And I noticed the birthday wish too- I thought it was so cute (what’s with Julian and the clowns on twitter lately though?) Those two must still love each other. They used to hug and kiss each other, for goodness sake, LOL

It’s so fun to chat about this stuff b/c no one I know really cares, lol. Their loss. And I agree with you in that Julian seems to know what’s best… the other guys should consider just accepting that.
Guys someone asked Nick’s wife on twitter what’s up with the 5th album and she said “hubby is at work today so assuming that’s what happening” she didn’t specify whether they’re writing or recording, but this confirms that they ARE working on it! I mean she lives with the man she would know.
