Five Strokes Videos From Open Air St. Gallen Festival in Switzerland

by Eric Van Dril · 10 comments

I had never heard of Open Air St. Gallen Festival before The Strokes decided to play there. Now that Sotelonij who attended the show has come through with a set of high-quality fan videos, it’s my favorite festival other than Lollapalooza.

These videos aren’t network-TV quality like the Isle of Wight videos, but they’re shot on a high-quality camera from (or near) the front row and the sound quality is on point. Most importantly, these five videos feature The Strokes and provide further evidence that they’re back and sound as good as they did during the Is This It days.

(First, we’ll kick things off with Albert doing some calisthenics and Julian rambling before playing The Modern Age and then get to the other four — Reptilia, YOLO, Someday and Under Control — after the jump.)

I posted this on Friday, I believe, but have chosen to re-post it because it’s one of my favorite songs and it’s more of The Strokes in 2010.

These videos are frickin’ great. They sound sooo good, and I love Julian’s awkward banter.

@Anna – I couldn’t make that out either. Not the majority, any way.

“you guys are the best man, the cats pyjamas, the dogs tuxedo, those arent even real expressions”

then “i like your vibe man”
something about tents? or seriously intense, something something old school?
“i really want to go to a festival”

then “you’ll take me? thanks albert”

cant understand the rest.

its pretty much just playful banter whilst albert tunes his guitar.

“you fucking in a tent” thats how we roll”

@Pat I loved the new version too. It seems like every small tweak they’ve made to their songs has been perfect.
