This NME interview was conducted backstage at this year’s Benicassim Festival. Nikolai gives a lot of non-answers, but one of questions asked was: What’s the craziest thing a fan has ever said to you? His answer alone is worth watching.

man that tattoo idea is genius. Fab drew a hippo on my copy of the Little Joy lp, maybe I should get that tattooed…
Niko should be the last person to do interviews. I understand that 99% of the interviewers ask the most retarded and stale questions possible, but he is so awkward and boring that it makes it worse.
How come we never see Fab doing interviews? He’s always interesting and funny in interviews. Or Nick (even though he sounds like a 16 year old girl bitching about his period)
Yeah, Niko does come across a little awkward at times, but its cute and endearing.He seems so shy. I’m wondering if he and Albert have been doing most of the interviews lately because they wrote the least on Angles? Fab and Nick haven’t done interviews in a while and I miss Julian interviews. :\

@naked — Yeah, I kind of agree with you. I don’t know why Fab hasn’t done one this entire time. Maybe he was instrumental in solving a lot of The Strokes’ problems within? I don’t know. It seems like he’s probably on good terms with everybody.
@heather — I kind of thought the same thing, but Nick’s done a couple interviews and Fab hasn’t done any. I don’t know. Maybe they just drew straws. I miss Julian interviews too. So so so much.
Maybe they send Nick out because you can never really tell what’s going on since he never gives clear answers and always monotony… Maybe the others would reveal too much about the band and etc…
