I have a feeling a lot of Strokes fans won’t like this song because it’s strange, the lyrics are repetitive and it’s very, very different than UCoD. What do you think of Nikolai’s baby?

an interesting experiment but it’s got a cheesy just “bad” sound…. I don’t like when the strokes rely too much on these kind of riffs, it worked in Juicebox because the rest of the song was very strong, River of Brakelights was weaker, and this is more interesting than either but a worse song than both.
Although the “I don’t want to fight” part is pretty awesome…
I feel like it’s a great B-side but I’m pretty bummed it’s on the album, it’s not good enough

i think the guitar sometimes have metal distorsion but sometime the sound have a mellotron sound??? the batery is like hard to explain sound

For the EP2 behind the scene video, it was out near midnight GMT.
The NME version sounds a lot better. It’s more restrained and sorta lo-fi and the instruments stand out better. Still not a big fan of the song, though. Sounds like a good choice for a B-side but am surprised it made on the album. Especially with that one song that was heard in the making up video that didn’t make the cut.

just got my free pre order download. @secret man dude it seems like youve got the old strokes sound down. and congratulations, but fact is that we cant expect these guys to stay static. the strokes are human just like us and change in every sense, from musical style to their influences. just except it and embrace it. theyre not going back.

@patrick, I did change it – that was my bad! was not trying to fool anyone obviously.
bands are supposed to grow and try new things, I’m all for it. I also just enjoy playing those songs in that way. its just fun.
the more i listen to the previews the more i realise the sound isnt that different…
UCoD, Taken For a Fool, Gratisfaction, Metabolism and Life Is Simple all resemble past work with subtle differences. The synths are alot more bbackground than what PFTY was.
I think once the full version is out everyone will be happy with it. it has a great summer vibe to it also

On a side note, regarding all the criticism about “You’re So Right”, this mp3 is probably taken from the vinyl 7″, then transfered digitally to a computer that I’m guessing wasn’t exactly done in a professioal manner. Think about it? Digital to vinyl back to digital and compressed again? There is so much loss in sound quality that can occur there. I wasn’t crazy about “River Of Brakelights” when I heard it for the first time, then it became one of my favorite songs on Phrazes For The Young. Just give it some time.
