Hi, first time i post here, i listened to the samples and they sound awesome!!! can’t wait till i listen to the whole thing.

I know it’s possible they won’t tour, but does that include SNL and/or other tv performances?

I like how people say some of these songs sound like Phoenix or like Franz Ferdinand or The Killers…bands that we would never have heard of were it not for TS.

Just because those bands are influenced by The Strokes doesn’t mean that they can’t have their own sound. Besides, we are comparing these new songs to bands that have made material before Comedown Machine was created, so it’s all okay to compare them this way. All I meant was that the songs have similarities to the basic styles of MGMT and Phoenix. I don’t get where people are getting Killers from, and I don’t even remember Franz Ferdinand being referenced.

Unexpected, but my favorite songs from these samples are Partners in Crime and Call it Fate, Call it Karma.

@Automatic Stop,

Not only do you have the best f*cking name in this forum but you shine wisdom upon us. Agreed. TS significantly influenced the trajectory for many bands after their first five years. They went hard climbing that ladder enduring some pretty insane band sh*t along the way.

I’m glad to see these icons of a music generation come back and make music together, joyfully, like old times. This sounds of old school effort into the music making, regardless of the radical changes in their sound.

I’m still shocked by how much I like the music on this album.

I seriously do not get the MGMT reference? In what song? I love MGMT, but this isn’t even close. I can loosely see Phoenix, but that’s all. Not even enough to make it a discussion, since Phoenix barely even has enough of a signature sound to influence anyone, and that’s coming from a big Phoenix fan.

It’s mainly the vocals that make me think MGMT, but listen to Tap Out, then to Electric Feel.
Slow Animals also has an MGMT vibe.

Partners in crime reminds me of Lisztomania. It’s mostly just a few parts here and there, but the 80-ish beats just remind me of Phoenix.

Of course it is all a matter of opinion I guess.

Listening to the samples for the 30th time. Only thing I don’t quite grasp is the Call It Fate, Call It Karma. The rest is unbelievably cool. All the songs seem so fucking solid!

I’m so happy with this… I’m a bit unsure of Fate, Karma but that aside the rest of the album all sounds better and more interesting than All The Time. Chances hit me right off the bat. 50/50 sounds like the most intense song they’ve ever done. It gives me the feeling of Reptilia when Julian sings “ran me off the road, the wait is over…” At the same time it’s distinctly different. Happy Ending literally sounds like the happiest song I’ve ever heard. I can’t listen to the 30 second clip without smiling

Most of the tracks Julian sings with a clarity that isn’t often found in the earlier albums. I can already tell me and my buddies will spend the summer singing along with a few of these.

How are you guys listening to the tracks???

The soundcloud widget says no, even when I try proxies in many countries and the amazon link gives me a 404 web page not found D:

Anybody know how I can get the soundcloud widget to work???
