2 strokesy September 26, 2013 at 12:09 pm

THANK YOU ERIC! I was just about to start crying because I missed the radio show :p

The tunes not what I expected at all. But I love it!

3 mateja September 26, 2013 at 12:23 pm

I can hear it from work. Any comment? Sounds good? Resemblances to Strokes V or Albert previous work?

4 mateja September 26, 2013 at 12:24 pm

*I can´t

5 LillySu September 26, 2013 at 12:30 pm

I wouldn’t say it resemblance to CM. More to Albert’s previous work. But it sounds IDK… richer? Guitars are amazing. And that melodic twist in chorus shouts Julian.

6 Adam September 26, 2013 at 12:35 pm

More “Strokes-y” than the 2 solo albums. His vocals sound different, almost like the guy from Interpol. It’s good.

7 Acombs1793 September 26, 2013 at 12:41 pm

I guess haim covered under control anyone have a recording?

8 the modern age September 26, 2013 at 12:44 pm

LS, I like your post, I heard it the same way. The solo is fantastic.

9 Eric Van Dril September 26, 2013 at 12:47 pm

@Acombs1793 — I think they were just singing along with the record. That seems to be what the Vs. thing is.

10 Acombs1793 September 26, 2013 at 12:49 pm

@Eric

Ahh I see, hopefully we get the deluxe edition of AHJ like I asked to Cult. That would be fantastic.

11 Matt September 26, 2013 at 12:54 pm

Very cool, can’t wait to hear the rest.

12 strokesy September 26, 2013 at 1:24 pm

Does anyone feel like there is a “Hard to Explain” vibe going on with this song? Sounds like if “Is this it” and “First Impressions of Earth” had a baby.

13 Ted September 26, 2013 at 1:31 pm

strange at first listen, I was expecting Julian voice on the chorus but it’s good to hear Albert doing some guitar solo !

14 Ted September 26, 2013 at 1:32 pm

@LillySu

+1

15 Eric Van Dril September 26, 2013 at 2:03 pm

@Ted — I agree you. I was kind of taken aback by not hearing Julian singing on first listen, which made me kind of sad that The Strokes have been silent since releasing Comedown Machine. I still don’t know how I feel about this track.

16 Kinger September 26, 2013 at 2:14 pm

I love it! These guitars is what makes the icing on the cake! Especially that guitar solo!

This gives me hopes for The Strokes to revive with this sound!

17 Kinger September 26, 2013 at 3:19 pm

MMMM Repeatttttt

18 Annie 1251 September 26, 2013 at 4:37 pm

@Eric Van Dril & Ted

I totally agree with both of you.

but- I do really like the guitar stuff and the solo!

19 Annie 1251 September 26, 2013 at 5:15 pm

Listened again…decided I really like the music. And so glad that Albert went thru Cult. He’s going to have so much support!

Soooo after hearing Zane’s interview (Thanks Eric, btw!) –

do we now think that TS will def release music thru Cult?

It seems Julian’s little company is off and running. What do you all think?

20 Tannk September 26, 2013 at 7:44 pm

its okay, Im not a big fan of his voice in this track but the music is great! I also wish the song was a little longer.

21 Gibson September 26, 2013 at 7:48 pm

As much as I love seeing Julian’s label up & running. I still don’t see TS going thru with cult.

Btw can anybody relate to the song? Lol

22 Matt September 26, 2013 at 8:50 pm

A-HAH! I knew this track reminded me of something:

23 Annie 1251 September 27, 2013 at 3:52 am

@Matt
Yeah I can kind of see what you mean – do you mean like the “sound” of the guitars during the “want you want you” part? Sorry- not a musician so I don’t have any technical descriptions!

But not his voice. Nope.
Still trying to figure out who Albert’s voice here reminds me of btw.
and I have always loved Julian’s Rave On cover! js.

@Gibson
LOL!! :) I thought the IRONY of that title was SO funny! I wondered if anyone else caught it. hahaha…

Does anyone have a link to Zane’s interview with Haim – they apparently were on with him right after Albert? I’d like to hear what they said about TS and Julian –

I did see this last nite – Haim girls singing along with Zane to Under Control and YOLO:

http://haimtheblog.tumblr.com/

Zane said something about Under Control reminding him of a Motown Song.
It really is a great song- it’s such a wonderful little ballad.

SO UNDERRATED IMO- Why doesn’t the whole world know about awesome songs like this? Bah!

25 Joseph A September 27, 2013 at 5:09 am

@Annie1251 In the beginning of the song, I thought Albert was doing a Jack White impression. Not as much when the song went on.

26 carl September 27, 2013 at 5:36 am

ugh i dont get it whats so special about Haim??totally mediocre music totally mediocre look.Plus theyre awful live.The only decent elements of their music are curated by Julian but thats about it.

27 Dave September 27, 2013 at 6:13 am

I feel Rude Customer has a “When it Started” vibe at times. I like it!

28 Ted September 27, 2013 at 7:06 am

@ Carl

I agree with you, they have some good songs but the album is meh. It’s all about the hype.

29 Ted September 27, 2013 at 7:10 am

The part between 0:45 and 0:50 reminds a Radiohead’s melody.

30 yeah September 27, 2013 at 10:15 am

yeah i don’t get haim they’re all hype.

hey i bet you guys will like this song though…its not by me or anything idk if u guys heard Bleached – dreamers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T25iq4ZQQzA i bet strokes fans will like this

anyway wtf was albert talking about in the song? anybody have any idea, it just seemed like he was annoyed by some waiter or somebody who kept bothering him and making him feel lonely or idk i guess we need lyrics…

31 heather September 27, 2013 at 11:06 am

I like Alberts song. I’m really impressed with it. I also like Haim. I think these girls have all of the right elements to be a great band. They’re talented. They can play their asses off, they’re personable, pretty. They’ve got it. I would love to see them work with some great producers and other songwriters (someone like Julian) who could really help them even more with their writing process because I think they have the potential to be even greater. I think dome of the advice that Julian has already given them has been spot on. They need to get in the studio with him.

32 the modern age September 27, 2013 at 11:13 am

@heather, Agree about Haim!

Is anyone planning on going to see Albert’s DC show? I just got tickets today, it’s a really small venue, I’m excited!

33 Mateja September 27, 2013 at 6:50 pm

BBC6 played St Justice today, did anyone record it?

34 Mateja September 27, 2013 at 7:02 pm

Ok I have to go and I can’t listen to all this, but here should be St Justice http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03bldtl

35 Kinger September 27, 2013 at 7:43 pm

I’m about to record it…

36 Kinger September 27, 2013 at 7:55 pm

Gah, they didn’t play it. I don’t think they were allowed to hear it live.

37 mateja September 28, 2013 at 7:54 am

They played it.

It´s at 1:17 in here http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03bldtl

38 strokesy September 28, 2013 at 9:33 am

Wow St. Justice is a great track. A pretty restrained track. I like seeing him grow as an artist.

I don’t know why, but I get the sense that the true artists in the band are Julian, Albert, and Fabrizzio (Nobody ever talks about him here!). I always got the sense that Nikolai and Nick are just really talented musicians who haven’t really evolved their craft. Maybe I’m wrong of course.

39 Kinger September 28, 2013 at 10:47 am

Hm, reminds me of 80’s Comedown Machine. The repeated guitar tune. But I think it’s still good!

It may take awhile to get into it. Maybe it’s because i’m so into Rude Customer currently. Hehehe

40 MS September 28, 2013 at 9:58 pm

I actually like St. Justice more than Rude Customer. I do like Rude Customer, but out of the two, I find Rude Customer more of a grower than St. Justice, but maybe it’s because a little more like Comedown Machine?

41 Bobby September 28, 2013 at 10:54 pm

Sounds really good. I love his guitar work and especially the solo, always awesome.

42 ruben September 29, 2013 at 12:16 am

can anyone rip the audio from bbc?

43 The Valeyard September 29, 2013 at 9:05 am

Sounds great

44 Tannk September 29, 2013 at 2:30 pm

I like ST Justice much more than rude customer.
