I’m so happy to see all this positive stuff! Sounds like the LA show was great and thanks guys for the videos, I really love the new songs. Kristine I feel the same, none of this is helping me with the wait either.

Hate to add late but The Roxy show was AMAZING!
Julian killed it and the band sounded great!
Odd though, when he played Phrazes or any Strokes songs the sound was amazing and super clear. But when he played any new song his voice was very much drowned out by the band and the distortion did seem a tad bit over powering.

All in all great show though and you totally can tell the he is back in the groove of things and coming into the voidz stage presence.

Wow, Coachella once again proved last night that they attract the festival crowd least interested in actually listening to music there. Outkast played their first show in ten years there last night and the crowd of trust funds kids showing off their newest outfits just kinda stood there pouting and posing throughout the whole set, with maybe a dozen people moving or dancing at all at any given time. I’m hoping JC doesn’t get the same reaction, but that crowd there keeps getting worse and worse. It feels like just as much a fashion show as a music festival these days.

Thanks to everyone posting links 🙂

BTW if you dig FoE and Dare I Care / Arabic Jam, you might want to check out Porno for Pyros’ first album, all funky rhythms and jam-type punky guitars (they wrote and recorded it in 3 weeks; on speedballs, unfortunately…) Jules was a fan of Jane’s Addiction, and this was Perry Farrell’s band that followed so he’s prob aware of them. Voidz record already sounds like itll be much better, but P4P still worth checking out, Meija especially: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aG0_vodPf_0

Thank you! Glad another Phrazes song is back, I’d love Left and Right or Tourist to be added into the set.

genuinely had no expectations for this show – was even prepped for disappointment, but the ROXY gig was great. the songs, what i could make out of them, were on fire. DC hardcore punk with a sci-fi prog edge. angry Julian is back. his eyes spent at least half the gig outside of his head. am always excited for a new Strokes/JC record, but this experience has made the impending wait a torturous one…

Julian should get that checked out by a doctor. I doubt it’s good for him to have his eyes hanging out of their sockets!

That EGO peformance tho…

17 Jack April 14, 2014 at 12:09 pm

Okay, actually…this solo stuff might be some of the best writing Julian has done in a LONG time.

They are on the lineup for next week. Hopefully we get a live stream.

heres a review of Julian’s coachella performance…..personally I disagree. I was at the Roxy show and it was amazing. http://www.buzzbands.la/2014/04/13/coachella-2014-julian-casablancas-treading-water/

Was at Coachella front row. I hate myself for not enjoying the set. He was late and didn’t seem to care. His show was super short and Idk, I didn’t feel like watching Julian. I sorta lost a lot of respect for him. I worship the guy… It sorta crushed me. He wasn’t facing the crowd and he didn’t have much stage presence. Sold my l.a. tickets to see him here instead. Super bummed.
