Julian Casablancas has recorded “Rave On” for a Buddy Holly tribute album which will be released on June 28. Julian is part of a star-studded cast which includes The Black Keys, Karen Elson (produced by Jack White), Cee Lo, Paul McCartney, Flo and the Machine, Fiona Apple, Kid Rock, My Morning Jacket, Modest Mouse and Lou Reed.
This is Rave On. It seems to suit Julian’s voice perfectly.

Buddy Holly is obviously a very unique artist who’s voice and music are instantly recognizable as “Buddy Holly”…kinda like Julian
. I’d be very interested to see how Julian walks the line between being Julian and keeping it Buddy Holly. I’m sure it’s gonna blow my mind!
oh and the release date is June 28th, not July (which I’m sure is a typo Eric cuz you’re timely informative skills are hardcore!!!)

I wonder why Albert wasn’t approached. He seems like a bigger Buddy Holly fan than Julian.
Already imagining it with Julian’s voice. Pretty cool.
@Thanks, Kimdiy. Pitchfork said July 28, so I’ll change that when I get a chance.
cannot wait to hear it
cool..
Too bad M Wards version of Rave On is so good, it’s going to be hard to top that. And M Ward seems to be involved (he’s in She & Him)
this is going to be awesome!
Anything with Julian will be amazing. He can top anything @myanmar
I’m not sure if this has already been posted but here’s Albert talking on Sirius Radio http://www.mediafire.com/?b4b4t33844x8bg8
I was so excited when Julian tweeted about this! I’m sure he’ll do Buddy proud.
I’m excited about the whole album! I’m sure Julian will nail Rave On…but The Black Keys and Florence and Fiona Apple and Paul McCartney too?? I could go on. It’s going to be awesome.

Albert says everything is fine
@saywhat thanks for sharing the billboard article. It makes me feel much better about things. I’m going to sweetlife on Sunday and just seeing the mention at the end got me all the more excited…I can literally not contain my excitement. The next 2 1/2 days are going to be brutal.
just saw this on twitter, i’d be cool if we could make this happen

Re: that petition for In Transit…. people don’t get it. The Strokes aren’t the same band they were 10 years ago; the relationships aren’t the same. I feel like everyone’s living in denial because they want the guys acting like they’re In Transit all the time. But c’mon… they’re much older, married with kids. Not to mention the numerous articles mentioning the strained relationships….. I love that they can still function and make great music together, but to hope for a chummy tour video is a bit much, no?
M. ward’s version was pretty pretty prreeeety good.
@RF, I’m not really interested in a happy chummy video. I’d just like another tour video cuz I find that stuff interesting; to see what bands do behind the scenes and stuff. so even something like that would make me happy.
I’m excited to hear JC working with Matt Sweeney and Tom Brenneck. Brenneck’s stuff with Budos Band and Charles Bradley is fantastic. And Chavez were awesome.
@JF I kinda agree. It’s a bit sad but that’s just life. When I watched the 2002 Reading vid (featured on the left panel of this site), what with the cake n singing for Julian, I miss the old strokes. Everybody does I guess. Aaanyyyywaaayyyyyy, Strokes V! Can’t wait~~~
Tom Brenneck…. Staten Island in the house.
