It’s Official: Nikolai Fraiture Confirms March 22 As Strokes IV Release Date

UPDATE: Nikolai’s confirmation came as a response to a fan on Facebook. Julian’s always been my favorite Strokes because, well, he wrote Is This It, but Nikolai is making a run at Julian’s crown.UPDATE OVER

Nikolai Fraiture just posted the following on his Facebook page (via Nix in the comments)…

It’s 1/11/11 right now. The Strokes’ fourth album will be officially released on 3/22/11. We’re two months and 11 days away from 10 brand new songs by The Strokes.

Reread that last sentence.

I surprised they are playing any dates ahead of the release. I mean, it’s great that they are playing live but within hours of the Las Vegas date, the new songs (I assume they’ll play a bunch of new songs) will be on You Tube. Songs leaking 10 days before an album’s release isn’t like if they had played new songs at Lolla or ACL but it is 2011. Hopefully, it won’t affect album sales.

You’re right Brian – it IS 2011, which means by the time they play that Vegas show the whole new album will have leaked.

Not necessarily. They can pull another “Stubb’s” on fans before the release and MAYBE play the new single set to debut in February…

To anyone who has ever snuck in to a concert; is it worth it? I mean, this is THE STROKES, right? The question isn’t can I do it, but should I??

If we’ve waited this long, I think we can wait until March 22nd. I’d rather pay for their music. I think it’s worth it.

I know this sounds wierd, but Nikolai’s album was my favorite out of the solo albums and First Impressions Of Earth is my favorite strokes album. According to Ms. Hanan, I am the only person in the world who can truthfully say that.

Brian – I’ve bought every thing they’ve ever done (including all of the singles) and I’m in no way advocating illegal downloading. I’m just saying that the album will have leaked by then whether we like it or not.

@Niloufar — You are indeed the only person that can say that. It’s weird; as time progresses, I find myself leaning towards Albert’s two records and away from Phrazes. I’d say Como Te Llama and Room on Fire is pretty rare too.
