So, if you’re not a regular reader of this site, here’s what we know so far.
-One Way Trigger is out.
-All The Time, the band’s first single, debuts on Feb. 12 on Zane Lowe’s BBC program.
-The new record is out in a little less than two months from now.
For a band that went under a rock for five years, I’d say two years between albums four and five is rather exciting and unexpected, no?

Badass Juicebox and HIAC to start. Beyonce served her purpose though- sexy flashy dancy entertainment. I liked it for the occasion.

I swear – I was watching her “show”, and picturing TS there instead, and just thinking how much more fun it would have been if it had been them…..
How did our society get so screwed up that THAT is what is “popular”? Not a musician in sight! At least, not one that was really playing an instrument!
I started thinking of all the old Big Band leaders from years ago and all the old Blues guitar players and I’ll bet they are all just turning in their graves….

Or if they for some reason they don’t think The Strokes would provide enough star power, they could do a combo performance like they were doing for awhile before the “Janet Jackson thing”. Since NFL fans seem so fond of “Seven Nation Army”, maybe next years halftime show could consist of a Strokes/Jack White collaboration (which would be about the coolest thing ever).

You’re so lucky! I’m in France and the Sony site says 25.3. I saw that Australia has a release of 22.3 too. I guess this means we’ll all be able to hear it early if someone puts it on YouTube!
If the Strokes were ever to play a Super Bowl halftime show it would be next year. The game’s in New York (well, technically New Jersey.)

@everyone talking about TS collaborations at the Super Bowl. Yes yes yes yes yes, and I would love Jack White there as well. When they did their MSG thing together it was amazing. Like I said, Beyonce served her purpose, but there’s a reason I watched her for 5 minutes and then chose that point in the night to leave the bar and go pick up my kid. If it had been TS, the babysitter wouldn’t have gotten off so easy.

I went to the Ravens/Colts playoff game in Baltimore four weeks ago. What’s funny is both Baltimore teams (Orioles and Ravens) have really adopted the “Seven Nation Army” riff as a terrace anthem at games. A lot of OTHER teams do, too but I even heard it during the Super Bowl. So Jack White would have a chorus if he plays half-time next year and the Ravens go back.
No insult but the battle of rock bands COULD work but they’d have to have a HUGE popular band right now for it to work. Like Mumford and Sons.

I really recommend everyone to give a listen to “tyranosaurus hives” by The Hives, IMHO it’s one of the most underrated, overlooked album of the past decade. Nothing’s screams rock like fast guitar and the howling pelle amvquist.
@Brian, That must have been a fun game! I don’t know if you share my hatred for Indianapolis (sorry to any Colts fans) but that was one exciting night for us. You’re so right about 7NA (people were saying Baltimore was being obnoxious about that last nite btw, but w/e) You know, all the Ravens and Orioles games I’ve been to since that trend started were full of fans who ONLY knew the chorus… So I agree about needing another “popular” band in there.
@”stroked”, Really?? I am so hoping you’re right! Believe me, I’m thankful for ATT next week (NEXT WEEK!!) but March 26 seems like a long way away. The anticipation is killing me, but fun and exciting at the same time.

@Acombs1793 Actually, remember that thing MTV did in ’02, “The The” bands celebration? The White Stripes and Hives both performed. The Strokes were invited to perform but they didn’t because they thought it was lame. The Strokes never received much airplay from MTV after that.
I was just thinking about The Door’s and how much people and the band bitched about how long it took to record The Soft Parade because of Jim’s drinking,etc etc..,something like 9 months or a bit longer. Then i think of The Strokes and taking 5 fucking years. That was longer a time then The Doors actually were together playing their albums live,…funny thought.

@Daniel, I don’t think there is that much to the bullets. It’s just there for aesthetic purposes and to continue with the “Vintage RCA album” look.
I don’t think thestrokesonfire is talking shit on The Strokes. It sounds like you mistook what he thought was making conversation. If he were talking shit, it’d be more like:

Im kinda surprised The Strokes aren’t gonna be at Sasquatch this year. Maybe they aren’t playing that many festivals this album

Yep and they also announced the second headliner for Reading and Leeds and it wasn’t TS. I’m wondering if the lack of festival news is good news for a proper tour. Just hoping Zane Lowe asks about this next Tuesday!
Not sure if it’s true, but an english not very famous magazine said they were listening the new Strokes album. If that’s is actually true, and a magazine like that (not Rolling Stone, not NME) has already the album in his hands, we can be sure that Comedown Machine is going to see the light before march 26.

That guy is the Q Magazine editor. He said is better than Angles.
Summarizing: It seems that these days we’re going to have some preliminaries reviews and more hints about the style of each song. I also think this will leak long before the release date
@mateja, Great! I’ve had a feeling it will be better than Angles, so it’s nice to hear someone else say that already. But I’m also a big 80s music lover as it is.

Isn’t Q Magazine the one that published that terrible interview exploiting TS drama before they even had a chance to make their comeback? Hopefully the media will knock that off this time, b/c that wasn’t a good way to start things for them in 2011. I’m hoping everything will be better this time around.
