more of the song!! or should I say even more of a tease.
On a side note…. I’m excited Julian finally posted the lyrics sheet for Machu Picchu. I wish these were for sale somewhere.

sick song. where can I find it?
what a pile of plop. ad rather buy iggy pops car insurance. what a massive fucking sell OUT
How is that a sell out? They are still making amazing music. An example of a sell out would be a band trying to change their style to reach a massive fan base (Kings of Leon).
Strokes are far from sell-outs. Nick said they let their last producer go because they didn’t want to go down the KOL/Muse route to the top 40 charts.
Don’t hate just cause they took a iggy pop influence and elevated to a level he could never take it to
seriously, the whole “sell out” thing is soooo fucking old… just as old as “i knew about them before anyone” and the “omg, like i totally fucked julian back in the day” things i hear from “fans” all the time. it should be simple: the strokes(as a whole and individuals) make great music. it blows my mind. period. all this other critiquing of personal lives nonsense is just that, nonsense.
he’s got the right to be a sell out. he’s got a kid to feed. fuck off. and can we get the goddamn song already?
Fucking sellout. Jesus Christ what happened to this band?
Everyone freaking calm down. Shouldn’t you just be glad to hear new material? Anyways, like Joe said, this guy’s trying to make a living just like the rest of us. Like you wouldn’t do it if you were offered as much as him. Plus, why do you even care? Just listen to the music everybody. That’s what it’s all about.
Not gonna lie, I might buy this cologne! The song is very catchy, and I want to listen to the whole thing now. I just got started on my collection of cologne, so why not try it right? If I like the smell I will give it a shot.
Yeah, I’m probably just buying into the ad because one of my favorite artists is endorsing it, but hey, I’m free to do whatever I want with the money I earn; and Julian Casablancas is free to do whatever he wants to earn money.
And if you don’t like it great! thanks for your opinion. BUT I’m pretty sure if you all heard the song without knowing it was for a cologne ad, the majority of people would like it.
Some people really need to get over their hipster fucking selves.
@Lyn, I totally agree, and well put
@lyn
oh so right
“it should be simple: the strokes(as a whole and individuals) make great music. it blows my mind. period. all this other critiquing of personal lives nonsense is just that, nonsense.”
He’s just a star in the music world
Everyone calm down. Better to fill Julian’s pockets than Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber’s.
@Alucius, That’s right!!
Nice.
Hahah! I’m a girl and I think I would buy this cologne now!
I don’t mind that Julian or any of the other Strokes members are or would be doing commercials like this one. It’s not a sellout; it’s still a really good song based on this 30 second snip-it. I don’t think that this commercial ruins any imagery of Julian and what his beliefs in music quality stand for. The cologne commercial song isn’t a stupid jingle or anything corny, it is a real song.
I don’t how many times the Strokes do something, and then a year or two later, people rip them off, yet the Strokes receive no credit. Therefore, I don’t understand why people are upset that he, Julian Casablancas, has written a song that is true to his style. The song is not gimmicky. If anything, I give credit to the Cologne company for betting on Julian.
i hope to god the next record goes the way of kings of leon so all these people calling him a sell out finish slittin their wrists already.
Selling out is when a band gives up their original sound or morals or style for the want of being famous/popular/rich. That is NOT what The Strokes have done. Do not confuse a man making a commercial with a sell-out. They have to make money & get out there! But what’s so great is that Jules, Fab, Nick, Al, & Nicolai haven’t even changed much throughout the years, besides sobering up and maturing like real men DO (especially with them being family men now ^^). The song “I Like The Night” sounds fantastic, Julian looks just as fantastic as he did 10 years ago. Just STFU with that “Such a f**king sell-out” crap. They still pwn AS ALWAYS.
@ Houston & Lyn, AGREED.
